Prometheus and Grafana are quite demanding when it comes to Raspberry Pi resources in case more than 1000 miners are being scraped. In such cases it is advised to upgrade the monitoring server.

Required Ports

  • Braiins OS metrics are exposed on port 8081 and CGMiner API uses 4028.
  • Those two ports need to be open.

Scraping interval

By default, scraping intervals for both Prometheus and Metrics Exporter are set at 1 minute. From our practice we know that this is the interval which is long enough for Prometheus to scrape lower thousands of miners. If you run 5,000+ miners it might happen that Prometheus will not be able to scrape all the miners in the 1 minute interval. In such cases, set up a scraping interval for higher value. If you have troubles, please contact Braiins support.

On the other hand, if the user plans to monitor just hundreds of miners and requires a shorter scraping interval, it can be configured in Prometheus and Metrics exporter.
